"The 87th Infantry Division Association made a $9,000 donation to the Army Heritage Center Foundation on June 21, 2007. This gift will facilitate the development of the Army Heritage and Education Center campus in Carlisle, PA.

the 87th Infantry Division Association, located in Port Carlotte, Florida, is comprised of veterans and children of veterans of this notable World War II Infantry Division. The men of this division served in the European theater of operations in General George S. Patton's Third U.S. Army. They first entered combat in Alsace-Lorraine, France. After extremely bloody fighting, the Division crossed the German border, and soon participated in the Third Army's historic counterattack, the Battle of the Buldge. In July 1945, the 87th Division returned to the United States and was inactivated September 21, 1945. The Association is dedicated to remembering the men of the 87th Division who did honor to their country, their comrades, and themselves.

The 87th Division Association's donation will further the progress of the construction of the Army Heritage and Education Center complex.The Army Heritage Center Foundation is a 501(c) (3) nonprofit corporation that is coordinating a public-private partnership to assist the Army to develop the Army Heritage and Education Center. The Foundation's other partners include the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania, local governments, corporations, and private citizens.

In developing the Army Heritage and Education Center, The Foundation works with the Army to develop a complex that will honor soldiers and their families; preserve and make available for study their artifacts, manuscripts, personal papers, photos and art; and to foster a greater awareness of United States and US Army history. Once the Visitor and Education Center and the Museum are constructed, the Foundation will concentrate on providing 'margin of excellence' support to enhance the visitor experience and to develop innovative educational programs."
