"The Army Heritage Center Foundation is pleased to announce that John Castaldo and Martin. J Clemis are this year's recipients of the 2008 Russell F. Weigly Award for military History: The award was presented at the conclusion of Temple University's James A. Barnes Club annual conference held in Philadelphia. The Foundation sponsors the award to honor Professor Weigly, one of the world's foremost military historians. Graduate students from across the nation and around the world are encouraged to submit their papers for consideration. John Castaldo, Temple University, was awarded first place for his paper, "Our Mohammedan Moros: American Perceptions of the Moro People during the Military Occupation of Southern Philippines, 1902-1913." Mr. Clemis, also from Temple, achieved second place for "An Unprecedented Collaboration: Academic Participation in Counterinsurgency Doctrine during the Cold War and Today."
