The dinner will be held on September 18, 2009 at the Radisson Penn Harris Hotel in Camp Hill, Pennsylvania beginning at 6:00 p.m. The second Annual Membership Dinner will honor veterans past and present and those who support the mission of the Army Heritage and Education Center to “tell the Army story . . . one Soldier at a time.” In attendance that evening will be Mr. Joe Lesniewski, a member of the Easy Company, 506th Parachute Regiment during WWII. During his time with Easy Company, Lesniewski saw combat in Battle of Normandy, Battle of Carentan, Operation Market Garden, and the Siege of Bastogne. He was depicted by Simon Schatzberger in the HBO miniseries the Band of Brothers (A fuller biography of Mr. Joe Lesniewski is available at http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Joseph_Lesniewski). Also invited and Veterans of the Battle of the Bulge, Wounded Warriors from our current conflict in Iraq and Afghanistan, other Army veterans and local leaders. The Foundation will also present the inaugural MG John Armstrong Award. MG John Armstrong, 1725-1795, was a Soldier, a Statesman, a Pioneer and a Leader whose efforts help shape the development of this region and the Nation. The award in his name will recognize individuals who have made significant contributions to the development of the Army Heritage and Education Center and its programs. The Foundation’s inaugural dinner was held in September 2008 and more than 150 attended. Senator Chuck Hagel was the guest of honor.
