To the student of Armour much of what Mr. Blair has to say will come as a addition to the scholarship of the subject. Others, whose interest may not be those of the specialist, will find the hundreds of illustrations of particular value. Many are from photographs, some are reproductions of contemporary pictures, but the majority are from a series of whole-page drawings which have been specially made for this book. The illustrations by themselves will make it a necessary source of reference to the historian of costume and of warfare apart altogether from their value to the student of armour.
