Good-Bye Broadway, Hello France! WWI soldiers board their transport ship for their journey across the Atlantic for duty in France with the American Expeditionary Forces (AEF). The song “Good-Bye Broadway, Hello France” quickly became the top tune of 1917. Bidding farewell to Broadway came to signify saying goodbye to the country, as most troop transpoorts sailed overseas from the ports around New York City.
